Taiwan Itinerary 2018: Day 4 - Buying Pineapple Tarts and then some

Image
Day 4: "Search for the nicest pineapple tarts Our breakfast was anything that we can grab hold off at Banqiao Station (given that the shop did not open early)... and off we go to search for Taiwan's best pineapple tart. *Cue The Voice background music* We took a cab down from Banqiao station to Pan's Cake. The distance was quite near.  There was already an ongoing queue inside the bakery ( as this was a known bakery patronized by the locals). We bought a couple and cab down back to our hotel. Our next stop is the famous Chia Te pineapple tarts. I have to admit, I am biased. The pineapple tarts, raspberry, walnut, aren't that bad, and some of their pastry too like the Milk bread (albeit this was too messy to eat). Directions:  Take MTR to Nanjing Sanmin Station. Chia Te should be at the exit on your left. From Chia Te, we took a cab to our last pineapple tart shop, which was at Sunny Hills. They provided a free sampling of the tarts ...

Day 2 Tai Chung ( 第二市場 ,YIZHONG STREET NIGHT MARKET 一中街夜市) It has been 16 years since the last time I went to TaiChung, a lot of things has changed. Back then, you need to take a bus to go Tai Chung but now, with the HSR, you need not to fret! Inside the HSR, which is practically similar to JP's shinkansen. at the boarding platform in Banqiao Station. Do be wary of the timings of the train and if you're on the correct train. Reach XinWuri Station Or the stop of HSR if you're going to Taichung. Going to Taichung HSR (Xin Wu Ri ) to TaiChung city proper by taking the local train. You can use your easycard. Walk along the Taichung MRT to Miyahara Eye Hospital ( weird name ) - an upscale souvenir shop store where they sell some pineapple cake. They are famous for their 100+ flavors of ice cream. To get to dine at this restaurant, you must shell out 500NT each. If you are press for time, you can always queue at their shop below. The ambianc...

Taste of Europe: A 14D Best of Europe Gastronomical Adventure

Image
A trip isn't complete without food! I took CTC's 14D Best of Europe trip. Here's a glimpse of the food I had on the trip. Disclaimer: This post might trigger episodes of hunger or higher food intake. You have been warned. Day 0  fly from SIN-FCO via Singapore Airlines First meal of the day, usually served an hour after the flight has taken off. In this case, my flight was around 1:00AM, so I was eating a meal at 2AM ( Sometimes, I do hate taking red eye flights because , in general, sleep is interrupted. If only there's a way to request for meals to be served at a different timing to get that uninterrupted sleep. ) Dinner Pasta Salmon and salad Magnum mini almond for dessert Breakfast 1hr before reaching the destination, I was served breakfast. As groggy as I may have felt, I still worked up some energy to wake those lazy bones and eat breakfast.  Omelette and Yogurt Day 1 Snack  You're not in Italy when you are not snacking on a...
