Taiwan Itinerary 2018: Day 2 - Around Taichung

Day 2
Tai Chung ( 第二市場 ,YIZHONG STREET NIGHT MARKET 一中街夜市)
It has been 16 years since the last time I went to TaiChung, a lot of things has changed. Back then, you need to take a bus to go Tai Chung but now, with the HSR, you need not to fret!

Inside the HSR, which is practically similar to JP's shinkansen.

at the boarding platform in Banqiao Station. Do be wary of the timings of the train and if you're on the correct train.

Reach XinWuri Station Or the stop of HSR if you're going to Taichung.
Going to Taichung HSR (Xin Wu Ri ) to TaiChung city proper by taking the local train. You can use your easycard.

Walk along the Taichung MRT to Miyahara Eye Hospital ( weird name ) - an upscale souvenir shop store where they sell some pineapple cake. They are famous for their 100+ flavors of ice cream. To get to dine at this restaurant, you must shell out 500NT each. If you are press for time, you can always queue at their shop below.

The ambiance inside the shop

The facade (where to find the ice cream shop)

Some of the biscuits here are too dry. Just stick to the pineapple cake. You can choose 4 snacks to accompany your ice cream + bubble tea.

The view from the restaurant ..
We walk the stretch past the canal (on the left side) to go to Miyahara's 2d outlet. We planned to eat again but we were too full from the first one.

We decided to walk to Taichung Second Market and see what the hullabaloo is all about.  It was reminisce of the time I went to  Muar where they had this like a building with an eatery to eat food, and definitely not your typical hawker center.

Past the Second Market, we reached a bridge that was nicely decorated.

Past the bridge, we reached our destination Yizhong Street Night Market ( well it was still day - late afternoonish when we reached) .We took a detour to the bookstore and some shops before heading to this place.
We decided to go through the bookstore and other places there, when we stumbled upon a rare find. My friend was showing me to that bubble tea store with a long queue when we saw...

A mugiwara store right smack at Yizhong Street.

Off to find dinner after an hour long of shopping. We took a cab (110 NT ) from Yizhong Street Market to Toroko Mall . The mall was just across the mrt station.

Tip:
Taichung got free bus to go around city. ( One of the rewards for using an easy card) . But most attractions in Taichung can be reached by foot. So just walk and enjoy the sights along the way.
