UK Itinerary 2018: Day 12 - Half Day City Tour of London & Going Home

We did not want to tire ourselves out so we decided to just take it slowly.

At 9AM, we were doing some last minute shopping around the area. By 10:00, we left the hotel to go to our first destination of the day..

Abbey Road Studios
How to go: Take Jubilee line to St John Wood Station and follow the directions. It's just some 400m (or less walk) from the station. Follow signs at the station, and walk straight Grove End Road. At a junction, cross the street (It's definitely visible)

As it's part of the road, be careful when crossing. You have to wait particularly long to get the shot that you want.

Nearby is Abbey Road Studios.

Sherlock Holmes Museum
[1230] The next stop is Sherlock Holmes Museum, we just took a bus (so we need not walk 2km) from Abbey Road Studios.
How to go: Take Bus 139 and alight at Baker Street station. ( If you'll look out the window-- driver side, you'll definitely see Sherlock Holmes Museum)

After a few photo-ops outside the store, we decided to find Sherlock's statue at Marylebone Street.

We decided to head out to Borough Market. We remember that the day was Trooping the Colour, and we reached Green Park station at 12:45PM. we just jump off the station and just went to Buckingham Palace, just for the heck of it. Promptly at 13:00, we saw the fly past. We did not regret jumping out of the train, as the fly past was too good of an opportunity to pass out.

We stayed at Buckingham Palace grounds for a few more minutes before we headed to Borough Market.

At 14:00, we were at the heart of Borough Market, we decided to grab some grub and find a loo. Quite a crowd at Borough Market on a weekend. We wanted to rest our weary feet before continuing on.

We left Borough Market at 16:00 and prepared to go back to our hotel.
At 16:30 , we left our hotel for the airport. As the train platform was packed, we boarded the first available train to Heathrow. The train that we boarded was only going to go to Terminal 4. We alighted at Hatton Cross station and boarded the next train to Terminal 5.

We reached Heathrow Airport with plenty of time to spare.

Our first stop is to weigh our luggage. There's a weighing scale at the furthest part of the airport.

This looks like a scene from KLIA. The trains to the gates are still 1 floor below.  This is what you get to see after passing through airport security. There's water dispenser after security.

There's also a nearby Harry Potter shop. It's very visible because it's after security and near the toilets.

The chaotic main terminal. It's quite big and have lots of food including Pret-A-Manger.

The ghost shops at B Gates. Better get your last minute shopping at the Main Terminal ( where A Gates are located).

This is how the terminal gates looked like..

We boarded (BA015) Boeing 777-300 (773)
I find the seats of Boeing better than Airbus as they have more leg space, even if you are seated at the last row (limited recline).

and this wraps up UK tour 2018. I hope I can return to UK and see the other parts that I've never been to.

P.S. Our plane was delayed on the tarmac for at least 45 minutes. Inflight entertainment and aircondition was turned on, so it was quite all right.
