How To Apply Canadian Tourist Visa in Singapore

As I was rummaging through my files, I've noticed that I've forgotten to write about visa application to Canada as a tourist. Being a passport holder from a third-world country, I have to present documents to show that I am indeed going to go to that country just for the holidays. I also need to show them that I have the intention of going back to our home country after the holidays.
People can thank their lucky stars for being born in a first world country. The number of countries to travel are infinite, provided that you have the financial means to do so.

So, what are the requirements to apply for a tourist visa in Canada ( for people living in Singapore):

1. Accomplished form
Details relating to your family as well as start of employment, salary, are asked. This is a very detailed form.
2. Supporting document ( Family information )
3. Documents to upload/print:

  • Plane ticket ( reservation)
  • Hotel booking
  • Photocopy of Current Passport ( front page)
  • Photocopy of Previous Passport details ( previous travels )  ( History of travel)
  • 4 months bank statement  ( Proof of financial support)
  • Letter of employment
  • Pay Slip ( Past months - at least 3 months)
  • Photocopy of pass ( Employment Pass, work permit, NRIC)  - Proof of status

4.  Payment of fees ( Mastercard/Visa)
5.  2 photos

The beauty of applying tourist visa in Canada is that it is possible to submit the application online. ( Saving the trees for not using paper)

After submitting the application, you have to also book for an appointment. You can visit the link here.

Address of the nearest VAC Centre ( coincidentally, this visa center also process visas for Australia, UK, and New Zealand):
Canada Visa Application Centre,
135 Cecil Street,
08 floor Singapore 069536
Application Submission: 08:00 – 15:00
Passport Collection: 14:00 – 16:00

On the day that you booked an appointment, you need to come on time, do bio-metrics, do payment (if you have not done so) and leave your passport. They have a strict no phone policy, so they will asked you to turn off your phones before you enter. They will also do some body search to check if you are concealing any weapons  ( who in their right state of mind would do that? it will lessen their chances in getting a visa.. unless they're not in it for the visa)

Waiting time for the visa was around 1 week.
