Myanmar 2019: Day 5 out of 5 : Au revoir, Yangon
On the last day, woke up to have breakfast at 6AM. It wasn't all that great.. (I'd prefer their breakfast box of 2 eggs, bread, butter and jam). It was a buffet breakfast, and not much selection (unlike the Bagan resort). It wasn't hearty too. After breakfast, we checked out of the hotel and met up with the guide at 7.30AM. The guide mentioned that since our itinerary had a lot of temples he decided to take us to see a different side of Yangon.
Since it was too early for Bogyoke Market (they fully open at 11AM) . We headed to St Mary's Cathedral, a Catholic Church in town.
After which was a trip to Chinatown and Chinese temple. Since it was still in the festive season of CNY, there were still some lanterns that hung in the street poles.
The whole view of the temple
The two deity that was guarding the temple ...
Inside the temple ..
and the colored gates ..
Bogyoke Aung San Market
It only opens at 10AM. It was still early when we reach and most of the shops were still closed.
kyauk daw kyi
As usual, you need to remove the shoes before entering this temple..
and as with other temples, you need to climb a flight of stairs. What is probably unique in this temple are the marble Buddha statues. When you're in Myanmar, you can never get tired of them. It's quite unique to the culture and to the place.
and the main attraction ...
Some more pagodas ...
The outside of the temple ...
Drop at Supercenter (Near the airport) and it was off to the airport . I requested to have a stop at a market where we can get off some food and souvenir. Supercenter was just the place. After an hour or so at the grocery, it was time to head down to the airport.
Yangon International Airport
The airport (like in the Philippines) have security checks before entering the airport. So you need to queue to get in and have your bags checked at the entrance.
Not much food choice at the airport (before immigration) and had to settle for KFC. But this was still a better alternative than having go through an airport without none..
Then it was time to go, just need to go past the escalators ..
After immigration clearance, there was the last security check before reaching the gates.. but before that you have to go through a series of ups and down ..
and the road to the gate have to go up and down and back up again ...
Finally you reach the gate!
and that wraps up the 5 Day tour of Myanmar (Yangon and Bagan), until the next adventure.
