Japan 2017: Day 6 : Off to see Mt Fuji And back to Shinjuku
A bit of a story: we prebooked for a tour around Kawaguchiko provided by the hostel but because we were the lone person who signed up for it, they refunded the money to us and we just decided to board their sightseeing bus and do it on our own. The main aim is to view mt fuji and the lake (any lake will do).
To start off, we just stood at the bus stop near our bus stop and waited for the sightseeing bus to arrive. We showed the bus driver our day pass. The day pass can be bought from the driver or from Kawaguchiko Station (I think)
Inside the bus ..
Our first stop was kawaguchiko natural living center, where we viewed some flower display (not much really) but since it was FREE entrance.
We head back to Kawaguchiko Station for lunch before we go back to our next destinations.
they got lunch teishoku set (where it included the puffer fish - we survived!)
In the afternoon, we decided to go to saiko iyashi no sato nenba (You need to pay for the entrance)
I was the lone person here since my companion went at this place. she just went around the coffee shop and played Pokemon Go, while i explored the area
we were looking for the bus stop so we need to walk the highway (No pedestrian lane, people)
Found a stop to Lake Saiko
On the way: I saw nenba minshuku, wild bird forest, and ojira. (Quite a big place to visit. I just point and shoot at the places I feel interesting and headed back to my companion)
Our last stop for the day was the herb hall (overlooking the lake)
This is also where we ate our lavender ice cream.
Some things to note
- the bus stops were hard to find on the road, so we had to also walk along side of the mountain (Yes, dangerous but luckily no cars) but we managed to find the stops after.
- The buses run at an interval, you need to manage your pacing and timing if you plan to go back to Tokyo like we did. We managed to catch the final bus and headed back to Tokyo.
- Viewing Mt Fuji in early spring is a hit and miss. we weren't able to see Mt fuji as it was cloudy all day long. It was also raining towards the evening.
- If you are planning to stop at a lot of places (like we did), buy the day pass. We made sure we got our money's worth.
- attractions also close early. so you have ample time to go back to your accommodation, check out and go back to Tokyo the same day.
We headed back to our hotel grab our luggage, and headed to Kawaguchiko station where we waited for our bus to arrive. We reserved the 1910 bus back to Shinjuku. We reserved online and paid at Shinjuku bus terminal.
