RESTAURANT REVIEW: P.S. Cafe Paragon

I just need to get it off my chest. Probably because I wanted to write something about hype. Not all hype are worth getting queue for, not all hype are worth going for...and this restaurant is just one of them. I've heard by word of mouth that this place serves nice food and we decided to stop by and eat here....

PS Cafe Paragon

We went out to eat at PS Cafe to celebrate a birthday. We booked online to eat at P.S. Cafe in Paragon Mall, Orchard. The place is located on the 3rd floor near Marks & Spencer.

Ambiance
The place is nicely decorated albeit the place is  small. It had that garden cafe feel like what you see in the streets of Melbourne. The restaurant was packed compared to other restaurants during dinnertime on a weeknight (TH).

The dishes
Verdict: Average tasting dish.

Shoestring Truffle fries (Signature dish) - So sue me, I am a fan of truffle oil. with that gas smelling taste lingering in your tongue ,truffle is one of the things that I cared to eat. I was pretty much disappointed when I sank my teeth to their so-called truffle fries. There was not even a hint of truffle until you reach the very last fry. By that time, you feel bloated from having consumed that much fries. The portion of the fries was for 3-4 people. Price: S$15
King Prawn Aglio Olio - Prior to ordering this dish, I've scouted other blogs to check what dishes should we order. Aglio Olio came out, so I've decided to order it. The prawns are not the king prawn that you see in normal cereal prawn. The serving is just right for 1 person to finish but price is too steep for an aglio olio.  Price : S$29

Smoked Haddock fish cakes (Daily Special) - It tasted closer to a fish paste than a fish cake. There was not a hint of smoked fish but rather it tasted like crab cakes. Price: S$15

Service
Like a ghost. Sometimes they are there, sometimes they're not.

Price
It's too pricey. Average tasting food with an expensive price tag.

Expense (per person)  above S$30

Verdict:
2 out of 5.  You'd only pay for the ambiance, but food is relatively ordinary that there are other restaurants out there that are delivering quality food at affordable prices. It's only a good place to celebrate a special occasion but not for anything else.
