USA West Coast Tour : Day 03 Reno - Twin Falls - Pocatello (Idaho)

Another long day drive and it's only 2 spots for the day

As early as the crack of dawn, I had to wake up and leave the hotel by 0700. There was no time for breakfast. Like a soldier, it was a routine to wake up, shower and pack up.  Today was a long drive on the interstate.

Drive to Nevada

From Reno, it was a 2hr drive To the first stop at Millcity, Nevada. The bus had a stopover at one of the convenience stores, the first of many,  so you can get your breakfast here. I had to remind myself that the convenience stores in the US don't have much selection when you compared to Japan. The staples are snacks, chips, cold drinks, and a hotdog sandwich stall. You have to DIY. I do recall, that there's no order of ordering things. You can bring the sandwich up and pay or pay later. Prices are pretty much the same. As for coffee, you have to bring the cup to the counter. In the US, you can pretty much order the smallest cup (and it will still be considered medium in other countries).

Drive to Wells, Nevada
0940 - 1225 After a short pitstop of around 45 minutes, it was another 2 hour long drive to Wells, Nevada. This was the second stop for the day.

Lunch at Wells, Nevada
This was the timing  (1225 - 1315) given to eat lunch @ wells, nevada. It was at a rest area  from which you will have a choice between mcdonald's and another Chinese restaurant. Lunch was an obvious choice because who does want to eat Chinese food in America. Note that you have to get in line quick and know what you want to order because the kitchen will get busy with the busload of people! Also, you have to eat quick because the bus waits for no one. The usual stops are only around 45 minutes long.

Also DO order their smallest size for fountain soda, you will thank me for it! A small fountain soda is like medium (16oz) drinks  in other countries.  After lunch was another 2-hour drive to our only stop of the day - Perrine Memorial Bridge

Perrine memorial bridge
At roughly around 3.15PM, the bus reached the tourist attraction for the day - Shoshone Falls and Perrine Memorial Bridge.
Tip: You'll be first greeted by the memorial bridge, skip that first and hike up to the falls first (as most passengers will rush towards the first attraction they will see. Time yourself and head back to the bridge at a later time preferable when you head back to the parking lot. There's also a nearby tourist center where you can get a toilet break)

Note: Do watch out for that rainbow!

After stretching the legs, and having visited the bridge, it was time to head back for another drive to the hotel. It was another 2 hour drive before stopping for dinner.  The drive from dinner to the hotel is just 10 minutes away.

I made it a point not to eat any Chinese food and eat as many local diners and American fast food as I can grab.  Today, it was Taco Time (Fun fact: Normally, you would also see Taco Time in a nearby Petrol station and convenience store).

From Taco Time, it was just a 10mins drive to the hotel. We all know the drill, we take all our luggages (ALL, 3x big & small luggages) up to our room, take what we need and keep it with us for the night.

Our inn for the night is at La quinta, pocatello idaho.
