Kdrama Review: Are you human too? ( 너도 인간이니)

Are You human Too? 


One-Line Summary: A Zettai Kareshi remake with a chaebol.
Starring: Seo Kang Joon (Nam Shin),  Gong Seung Yun (Kang So Bong)
Episodes: 18 ( 36 episodes of 35 mins each)
Summary: Nam Shin, the young heir of PK Group, met with an accident and fell into a coma while vacationing in Czech Republic. His mom, a leading AI scientist, created an android of his likeness, aptly named Nam Shin III. The android steps in his place and try to run the company. Will the robot be able to perform his duties well, and will the robot be found out of his true nature?

The Good


  • It has a good soundtrack.
  • It made me want to go to Prague, Czech Republic.
  • There's no love triangle angle in the story.
  • It has good cinematography.


and of course, there are the bad ones...

The Ugly

The lead couple are not seasoned actors.

The scenes fell flat. They do not seem to be sincere. I don't feel that they are exerting effort to exude any empathy from the audience. But I will give them a break since this was their first lead stint. Hopefully, in the coming years, they still continue to hone their craft.

There's also no chemistry with the actors.

Both the actors were just playing cute. It's quite childish.


The plot is too thin. 

They revealed a lot of things early on. There's not much twist and turns in the story. They could have patterned the story after Bicentennial man, which is a  more fluid,straightforward story. For me, there were a few things missing that I can't quite put a finger on.


The scenes are too cheesy -- that I want to vomit. 

This is way too unrealistic (but then again) we are talking about a robot romance here.


The antagonist 

They're not evil nor conniving enough. It was just a case of bad parent-in-law. Though sometimes the evil hear no bounds. I feel that the bad guy is like Dr. Robotnik, he has all the evil intention but the executions are quite lame that it's easily foiled by the protagonist.


The accomplices can get away with any wrongdoing.

Seemingly co-conspirators or people who have a hand at the crime get away scot-free. How is that even possible?

Trivia

Seo Kang Joon went from disorderly student (ep12, Good Doctor, 2012) to lead star (Nam Shin, Are you Human Too, 2018) in span of 6 years. The guy got a lucky break!
