What's Wrong with Secretary Kim

Stars: Park Seo Joon, Park Min Young
Episodes: 16
Date Aired: 06 Jun - 26 Jul 2018
One Line Summary: A good example of a trope drama ( this series is one that is full of tropes, you can never missed it). A very typical boss and secretary love story.
Summary: This story is about a very narcissistic and egotistical boss of an MNC, Lee Young-joon (Park Seo Joon) and his highly skilled secretary, Kim Mi So (Park Min Young). His very capable secretary, after a 9 long years of servitude,  decides to submit her resignation. She's given about a month to find a replacement. The egotistical boss is not having it and makes it his mission to not let his secretary find her replacement and hilarity ensues.
Reason for Watching: Because it was one of the most popular shows of Spring 2018.
Date Watched: 10 Aug 2018 - 16 Aug 2018

The good

The leads have great chemistry.

They seem to be a natural pair. They look good together. Their scenes are well executed, and you can feel the sincerity they have for each other.

Twas a good comedy

It's indeed a Romantic Comedy, you will laugh your socks off while watching some episodes.

Their past

It's quite charming and endearing too.

The side characters

They make the series light and they're quite entertaining. They even have a slapstick romance. ( To some it's quite cute..).

The parent's love story

Kim Mi So's parents (Lee Min-Ki and Jung So-min) share a cute love story. They're the next perfect couple after Kim Mi So and Lee Young-Joon. The parents really cared for their kids even with the dad's out of the world ambition.

The Ugly

It's Too dragging.

There are actually episodes that just doesn't make any sense or just there to be a drag to the series.
The confrontation between the siblings are just too dramatic.

Their past

Now, I did say that this one of the good points but it's also one of the ugly points the story has. Sometimes it does not seem to jive but it's there to connect the whole story. Not sure if this is a major spoiler for the story but knowing that this is a trope series, everyone can already guess it.

The lead girl is just too understanding.

Mi So is very understanding secretary to the point that she has no faults.

Too dreamy

Sequences are too dreamy, can't Korean dramas have normal scenes that can actually happen in real life? (but then again, we are talking about Korean dramas, where scenes are too unnatural...). I find this drama too dreamy to a fault. I would definitely turn off the screen or just do other things while these scenes are happening.

Miscast for the older brother

He just looks too young for the role of the older brother. They just arrange his hairstyle for him to look a bit mature, but there's no way you're fooling people that this guy is older than Lee Young-Joon. They're like a decade apart.

The ending

It was an overkill. They could have ended at some early episodes but they have to prolong everything and it was dragging in the end. They could have bring some characters to spice up their ever perfect relationship. They did at the end, but it was just a tiny spotlight, and it did not do anything to the story.

Overall

If you have time to kill and love some feel good series, this can be a series for you ( though this is not at par with Full House). This series does not have your evil MIL or even a conniving, scheming 3rd party lover. This doesn't even have an antagonist to antagonize the whole series. You can't really be bothered by it.
