UK Itinerary 2018: Day 6 - Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, Bath and Lacock
Our tour was set to depart at 8AM. Therefore, we had to skip breakfast and head straight to coach station.
One thing to take note at Victoria Coach Station is that , it's only a drop off point (departures only and no arrivals) It's a chaotic world at that station.
The alleyway from Victoria Station (Railway) to Victoria Coach Station. It was still a distance at this point.
Promptly at designated time, we boarded the bus and took off to the first agenda of the day -- Windsor Castle.
There is a designated carpark for the tour bus. You'll be back at the same place as drop off point. It was a long walk (plus some stairs)..
You'll be greeted by the view of windsor castle. The castle only opens at 9.30AM. We only had 2 hours at Windsor Castle (so better pick up your battles, and decide where you want to go!)
Tight security. Basically most of the palaces, museum that you go through in UK, you'll have to go through bag checks.
[12:00 - 14:00] Next stop is Stonehenge.
At Whiltshire, it was bright, burning sunny day. Caps must be worn at all times and sunglasses too. We just forgot about the sunscreen.
The coach will drop you off at the Visitor Centre, and then you have to wait for another shuttle bus (free) which will take you to the Stonehenge itself.
Meet up place: To the coach parking space at Stonehenge Visitor Centre.
I always thought that there'll still be a bunch of stones left but I was mistaken.LOL
Do spot the signs to check which spot of the Stonehenge is great for taking pictures. Also, expect a lot of tourists flocking to the place.
At the visitor centre, you can check out the museum (and go to the toilets)..
.. and the exhibition outside..
Tip: Best to bring some snacks (to eat outside the visitor centre). This is the only window where you can snack a bit. It'll be another 1.5hrs to reach the next destination, and only drinking water is permitted on board. (You can try to sneakily eat some snacks but don't make a mess!)
[1530 - 1620] Bath
Tip: You can just go to the Roman Bath (where they are selling the entrance tickets) to go to the toilet (if you really need to go)
Meetup place: Where the bus left drop you off. (There's really no parking space here).
[1800] Lunch/Dinner at Red Lion, Lacock
Food is covered by the tour, drinks aren't. Do remember the food you ordered.
Meetup Place: Converge at Red Lion and go back to the small parking past the Visitor Information at Lacock.
[1830] Leave Lacock back to Victoria Station
One good thing about this tour is that they have 2 drop off points: 1. Near Gloucester Road Station (which is just a stop away from Earl's Court Station - another plus point if you are staying near to that station) 2. At Victoria Station ( near Victoria Place Theatre - where Hamilton is currently showing)
We did give tip to the bus and the bus driver at the end of the day ( for the effort of keeping us safe and handling all affairs for the day -- although it is their job. Typically, it's 2GBP per person but we just gave them bills).
