UK Itinerary 2018: Day 2 - Around Princes Street
After a grueling 5h train ride, we finally reach Edinburgh Scotland! There was a delay of 80mins, so the day was practically gone. Primark closes at 10PM, souvenir shop closes at 9PM, while the rest of the shops closed at 8PM. Waverley mall closes at 7PM ( so better grab stuff before they close).
Upon alighting, we worked our way from platform to the street (And yes, there are lifts!). We were at Edinburgh Waverley Station at Princes Street.
Princes Street can be described as one stretch of a shopping arcade with a bunch of hotels. They call Princes Street , the new Town, while the Royal Mile is in the old Town.
To go to Royal Mile, it's an uphill climb to reach it. My advise is to go to the side where the Mound is and walk from there. It should be a couple more streets down near Frederick and Hanover Street to be able to safely scale to Royal Mile, and if you are with an elderly, better grab some Hop-on Hop-off buses, or Translink Buses that goes to Royal Mile.
Our lodging was at Frederick Street and the hotel is aptly named as Frederick House Hotel.
It had an old rustic feel. The room was spacious. You get ample power adapter and lights. One odd thing was that there's no air conditioner, so am not sure how the summer nights are going to be. No free water bottles but there's a water fountain outside the room. It's safe to drink water from the tap.
